A Nation 4 Columbus Day
Any nation that can celebrate Columbus Day and not have considered what this man has done while he lived in this country shouldn't be called a nation. For example America celebrates this day every year as if there wasn't anything wrong with it. Christopher Columbus and other European explorers enslaved the Native Americans of this country. Enslavement is wrong. Until this assignment was given to me I didn't think of how much this celebration bothered me. No one should be rewarded for harming another individual. It's just plain wrong. If this day had another name and another meaning, I could except it. But right now I can't and I won't. Something has to be changed. I don't want my children growing up in America's ignorance of this subject. America needs to realize that as a nation we've all experienced ridicule just for being born in the U.S.A. We should be able to be prideful for something in this country especially for something that can be changed. If more people would speakout on their thoughts than maybe a change could be made. This subject could not only sweep the nation but take over the world!
